Discord Expands Advertising with Arena and Mobile Video Quests

Discord is doubling down on its advertising ambitions with the rollout of Arena Quests and Video Quests on Mobile, giving brands new ways to connect with its massive, highly engaged user base. These innovations expand Discord’s existing Quests framework—a reward-based ad experience—while offering enhanced measurement and cross-platform reach for advertisers.

“Discord’s Quests represent the future of reward-based advertising, delivering authentic value to users while driving meaningful impact for advertisers,” said Adam Bauer, VP of Sales and Ad Solutions at Discord. “Arena Quests and new measurement partners demonstrate the continued growth of Discord’s advertising business.”

Arena Quests: Brands in the Game

Arena Quests, now in Alpha testing, allow brands to sponsor real gaming moments. Users select a game from a curated list or themed bundles sponsored by advertisers and play for a set duration to earn rewards, such as Orbs or Discord avatar decorations. This approach integrates brands organically into gameplay, making them part of the experience rather than a disruption.

Video Quests on Mobile: Cross-Platform Advertising

Discord’s first mobile advertising solution—Video Quests on Mobile—expands the platform’s reach while maintaining its user-first, reward-driven approach. This unlocks cross-platform campaigns, enabling advertisers to engage audiences across PC and mobile.

Enhanced Measurement and Attribution

Discord is upgrading its measurement capabilities through partnerships with AppsFlyer and Gamesight.

  • AppsFlyer serves as Discord’s first mobile measurement platform (MMP), providing privacy-safe, trusted campaign analytics for Video Quests on Mobile. Early results show campaigns leveraging AppsFlyer achieved 30% performance lifts, including a recent superhero-themed campaign featuring Venom, Thor, and Spider-Man.
  • Gamesight provides server-to-server events API integration, enabling real-time measurement of in-game actions—installs, logins, and purchases—directly linked to Discord ad engagement for PC and console campaigns.

Quests: Advertising Meets Gameplay

Discord’s Quests framework includes:

  • Video Quests: Focused on awareness and consideration for trailers, DLC drops, and content announcements.
  • Play Quests: Designed to drive gameplay, requiring users to play or stream games to unlock rewards.

According to an internal Discord survey of ~1,000 Quest users, over 50% of participants say Quests improve their Discord experience, with players actively seeking new Quests to complete.

By combining reward-based engagement, cross-platform reach, and robust measurement tools, Discord positions its ad platform as one of the most authentic and player-centric options in the rapidly evolving CTV and gaming ad landscape.
